All week long there have been snow warnings... will-it wont-it's... and general speculation about WHEN the big freeze will arrive in our neck of the woods.
Well i can divulge, that after waiting ALL week for a proper glimpse of the white stuff (im talking settlers - not just those little flurries that float about in the sky and then melt) and hopefully anticipating a snow-day off school... it would appear that snow is now coming this weekend.
i mean REALLY?!
On my scheduled days off?!?! Gee, thanks a bundle :p
Not that im too fussed, its damn cold outside and im pretty thankful that i dont have to get up and trek to work through the snow (i havent been using the moped cos its just too cold and icy at 8am) so its been a case of bundle up in my gloves and scarf and slipslide through town to get to work. Its not far and i havent been going the long back route that i used to walk to work. Ive been taking the town route (less icy!) I was worried cos the last time i started walking again, i didnt want to go back to the moped. but to be honest, id gladly take it now... its just TOO COLD to be outdoors walking loads!!
In fact, yesterday it was bitter. After walking into work it actually felt like it got colder during the day?! and by lunchtime, when i would normally walk into town and buy some lunch (yes, i have still been walking in my lunchtime... i havent quite kicked it. which i KNOW is silly, cos walking in in the mornings means i was being more active :s) But yesterday i was tired and it was cold and i just couldnt be arsed with it. so i just got a sandwich from the tescos next door and called it quits. i knew i had to walk home anyways, so i didnt feel like i shud torture my body more.... and thank god i didnt!
I have found this week pretty hard. I really dont cope well with this cold weather... not just for the fact that im underweight and therefore ALWAYS cold. but my blood condition affects my circulation and so i get very painful swollen feet and hands, aswell as chillblains etc... its not fun! So this and the fact that i was walking to work & back, doing a full day meant that i was then coming home exhausted :( I need a break!!! I forget that im NOT healthy and therefore, this kindof thing affects me more than other people... i need to remember that i am different and i NEED to take better care of myself. just like i need to eat more than other people. Its not greedy, its not lazy... its RECOVERY!!!
So im taking it easy, i dont want to get sick... the mumatron is away for two weeks (she left on weds) so im home solo. which is good in a way, cos it means i can just get on with things. no silly comparing tantrums when she comes back, i can just eat and rest and focus on ME.
So today i have enjoyed my weekly lie-in, changed my sheets so that i have that lovely fresh bedding feel for tonight :-) and this afternoon i am going over to my friends house so we can go play in the snow, before curling up and watching a dvd. Should be a good day!!!
I went out in my pj's this morning to start my car so that it doesnt get all iced up and dead batteried... it started first time!!! that almost NEVER happens!!! i dont think im gonna actually drive it tho, im a chicken when it comes to icy-road driving... id like to go to the supermarket and do a proper shop (ive been buying little bits at the local shop, but it doesnt quite cut it like a big supermarket shop does!) But there is a big hill on the way and you have to stop-start all the way... i dont like the idea of slipping down that!!! Hmm, i think i might just have to wait till next week, i heard that tomo is when our heavy snowfall is coming, so i dont think im gonna wanna brave the roads after that! :p
Anywaaaaays....
I hope wherever you are, you've had some snow to play with... has anyone done anything exciting? snow men?! sledging?! As much as it looks like fun, its just TOO COLD!!! i swear when you get past the age of about 12, your cold senses get waaaay more sensitive. Some of my pupils were running around the playground in tee-shirts, throwing snow! what is this MADNESS!?!? i was wrapped up in thermals and a thick coat!!! How is it that kids dont seem to feel cold at all... its grossly unfair! :p
This was the pond in the town park the other day - it was totally iced over! i braved standing on it to test its thickness, but only the edge... i didnt wanna be one of those daily mail stories.... "teacher falls through ice" blah blah blaaah"... but yeah, it held my weight! (not that thats much to shout about! HA!)
laters ICE-skaters!
xx
