Today I promised to jump back on the "Christmas Challenge" bandwagon and so, true to my word - here i am!
But in typical clem-style, when i looked up day 17 - there came another of those "Say Whaaaaa?!" moments....

who keeps their OLD xmas cards!?!?!
Well to be honest, usually - me!!! Im a sucker for hoarding stuff. But dont worry, im not as bad as some people...
what even IS all that stuff?!!?
I like to keep things... just in case, y'know?! Haha. I think it comes from my weird phobia of thinking that i need to keep things 'nice', that i shudnt USE my good things in case i damage them, or ruin them somehow or i dunno... something! So i keep things box-fresh, safely stored away for "that special day" when i'll need them, that "perfect moment" which then never comes cos i am too paranoid about damaging whatever it is, so i use/wear something else! GAH!!! I am lots better now, i got to the age where i just didnt NEED half the stuff i had when i was a kid... So i had a big clear-out. Its good to chuck stuff out, not just for the added space but for mental clarity! But as freeing as it is to let stuff go... It is hard to be cut-throat with what you want and what you need. I lost a whole load of unnecessary "stuff" when we moved house like a gazillion times over the period of my parents divorce... which was probably a good thing if im honest! Cos i figure, if i dont miss it - then it probs wasnt worth keeping anyways! Back when i was a kid i used to keep ALL my receipts, bank statements, warranties for products id bought, instruction manuals... the kindof stuff that takes up ALOT of space but you never really need!
So Christmas/Birthday/Hannukah?! cards.... They just dont make the cut anymore!!! even if i wanted to keep them... the mothership is pretty brutal with "junk". Lets just say, if its not superglued down, it'll be chucked away :p i think she's just so fed up of my sisters hoarding habits, that she bins anything she sees as rubbish! (and believe me, there have been many fights over some invaluable piece of tat that my sister has found at a car-boot sale that has ended up in the bin!!!) So apart from maybe a few special cards, i dont keep things like that nowadays....
Saying that tho, i DO put up and appreciate all the cards i get, at the time! Especially since it'd be a shame to chuck away all the ones i get from the kids at school... But instead of having them in a pile, i always try to make them into some kindof display... (hellooo - art teacher alert!) But that way it looks more like a decoration rather than just a bundle of cards thrown over the place! :p

I tend not to send out that many Christmas Cards these days... I did the whole "send them to everyone, even the guy behind the till at the supermarket..." thing back when i was at school and it was kindof mandatory since everyone sent them. But now that im older, i prefer to give little gifts for my close friends and then make a card or tag to go with it. Gifts with a personal touch are always nicer i think :-)
