Hey guys.... im back!!
And may i say, feeling mightily refreshed after a night in my big comfy bed!!! i love going away, but theres something soooo nice about coming back to your own bed. It just makes it even better to come home (especially when you've been sleeping on a kids mattress under a sloping roof that you bang your head on everytime you turn over for the past week. haha!!)
So yeah, home sweet home :)
I got back yesterday and its been crazy madness already. i dropped my bags when i arrived back off the coach and headed straight over to my friends for some girly hang-time. It was so nice to see a different face, after speding the week with the same three people, its nice to get away and have a break! Plus we had alot to catch up on... she wanted to hear all about the trip... As im sure, do you!!
Now... where to begin!
Me and the roomie set off on friday, taking the coach to Stansted airport where we met her girlfriend (ive told u about her before, right? uhhhhh. theres more on her later!) We all traipsed into the plane for our tres short flight over to France, where our lovely friend and her NEW BABY were waiting to pick us up and take us home!
Oh my god, her baby is SO cute... and so well-behaved too! you'd never guess it was only two weeks old! it eats, sleeps and hardly cries! i mean, yes - OBVS it cries... but nothing like what i thought a new-born baby would be like! you hear stories of mums being so sleep-deprived they cant stand up and tearing their hair out cos they dont get a minute to stop, but this little golden-girl was a gem :)
babylove!
It was good that we were all there, cos we could all help out and it was so nice to see our friend... she was so happy and chilled... she's really taken to motherhood and im glad of that, cos she was sooo stressed out before the birth, she was depressed, crying all the time and totally unsure as to what she was going to do after the birth. I think her move back over to France was DEFS the right decision... she looks much happier and at peace now... Not to mention, hellooooo hot mama!!! She doesnt look like she just popped a little bub out, she looks fab!
mother & daughter
Anywaaaays, the first few days we spent exploring the local villages, being shown around the touristy spots and generally mooching about, catching up with our friend and enjoying baby-time! We were lucky that it was sunny over there (i know theres been snow back in the uk - urhh!) So it was nice to get outside and do stuff... it was still damn cold - but fresh and we were wrapped up warm and mostly took the car to places anyways... which, ill admit was good for me! cos it meant that i massively reduced my activity and you know what... i didnt die! the world didnt end! i didnt blow up! Yup, it was ok :) altho it was kindof scary, cos the less i did the less my body wanted to do :s
i guess it started to get working on resting and recovering - something ive never really allowed it to do... But all i wanted to do was lie on the sofa and sleep!!! bit boring for the others, but hey ho - there was a baby to play with!
me and the preggo
roomie and her girlfriend
on Easter Sunday, all of our friends family came over and we had a big lunch. It was fun to spend time with them, cos they're all French so it was a case of English and French conversations flying about, haphazard translations here and there and just general mayhem! They brought their kids too, so there were two little ones to play hide&seek with... plus we had face-paints, an easter egg hunt in the garden and painting eggs too. It was actually a pretty awesome day!!!
my Easter-fied cactus attempt!
The rest of the week passed quite fast, we visited some nice beaches, drove around and took lots of pics... then on Weds it was my birthday!!! Altho, to be honest it didnt really feel like my bday that much... i was feeling abit down anyways, cos i hadnt heard much from home and i thought everyone had forgotten :(
It was quite hard being there with only the 4 of us (and the baby) cos i felt abit like a spare part... roomie had her gf with her (who ill admit, i started to get abit pissed off with...) my GOD does she monopolize a conversation... everything was about her and how great/funny/successful she was. She thinks she's gods gift!!! GAH! i just dont have time for people who toot their own trumpet all the time... espesh when she clearly has self-esteem issues. Shes quite a "big girl" and she puts a front on that by being this BIG character... ive had big friends before and i know that its hard. just like its hard being too "thin". But she tries to make it out that shes "BETTER" cos shes bigger, which just made me feel shit about being so small... she kindof made me feel abit like a loser who didnt enjoy food, therefore didnt enjoy life. Hmmm. so yeah - she started to grate on me abit...! and then since lovely preggo had the baby to look after, i kindof felt abit like the odd one out. I know i WASNT, but hey - paranoia's a bitch! :(
STARFISHBABY!
Anyways! on my bday we went out for dinner to our friends sisters restaurant in the local village... It was amazing! Its a pizzeria but its built in the towns old bank, so they still have a safe in there and stuff... it was so cool!
if only all walls were made of money
But again, by 9pm i was exhausted and wanted to go home... which made me frustrated. GOD, its so hard to do stuff when your body just doesnt support you... it makes me feel like a burden, i feel like everyone else wants to have fun but im holding them back cos i cant.... it sucks and i really hope that with recovery, my body will get stronger and ill be able to do stuff again. Cos this is just LAME.
Someone tell me that it changes??
its not just me is it???
Yesterday we flew home and although i had a lovely time, i was totally ready to come home!!! It was amazing seeing our friend and spending time with the new baby :) but i was starting to get abit edgy being stuck in a small house with the same people, cos theres just no way out yknow!!! sometimes i need abit of personal space and i couldnt really have that there....
I think thats obvs something im gonna have to work on before i go travelling!! I like doing things my way, but i have to remember that compromise is important if I want to be able to be adaptable... thats something that ED's take away from you and i wont let it get the better of me!!! haha.
SOOO. now im home. And today im having a lazy catch-up day before more shenanigans happen this weekend! Im currently sitting with a hair-mask on (ohhh, i missed my beauty products - hand luggage only allows you like THREE tiny things!) so then i need to pop to town and get some bits, go to the bank etc... and i think abit of washing is required and then just general chillage before tomo! Im home solo all weekend cos the mothership is in london and the roomie bailed on me again and decided to go back to london with her gf instead of coming home on our booked coach... TYPICAL!!! So its just little old me! Ah well. to be fair, i could use some space here anyways, i have lots going on this weekend so i wont be sat on my own being bored, thats for sure! :p
I hope you all had a FAB Easter break and didnt freeeeze too much in this very UN-springlike weather! I mean seriously, what is going on here people?!?! Its supposed to be April not January!!! Lets pack this cold snowy weather away in the "winter" box now please!! haha.

Welcome back lovely lady! x
