iced tea-time

Ahhhhh. ive just got back home after a very long and hot afternoon at our schools prize giving ceremony.... it was nice not to teach all afternoon, but my GOD those awards ceremonies drag. plus they didnt have enough chairs in the town hall (which is insane... there were enough LAST year, what did they do - vanish?!) so all the kids who weren't recieving awards along with some of the staff - had to sit on the floor!!! SO not cool.

and before you ask...
yes. i was on the floor
:p

But it was a welcome relief to be in the coolness of the town hall, cos ohemgeeee it has been BOILING hot today.

If you live in the UK, no doubt you are embracing this mini-heatwave thats going on right now... its all good in the hood, dont get me wrong - id rather it be hot than cold!!! But when you're trying to teach a bunch of kids who are sweating buckets and feeling faint with heat, its not so easy. Luckily its the last week of term this week, so we arent really doing too much. In fact, ive done pretty much nada all day!!

Heres how my day went!

Got up, cursed the fact that it was so early - then relished the fact that after this week i wont have to get up at 6AM for work again! hazaah!

When i got into work, the first thing i had to do, was take down the exhibition from the school fete on saturday... Roped in some of my year 8's to help. hehe.

Here are some pics from before we took it all down...

im so proud of them all for their hardwork & effort
:)

After break i got some of my little junior ones to help clear up and tidy pencil trays and art supplies in my room.... (while i organised getting a printing company to make me a form keyring with our class pics on it to give to each of my form pupils on the last day - i will show you a pic when i get them back!)

Then i had a free half hour and as i was feeling abit wobbly and my legs hurt, i decided to take a stand against my ED urges and INSTEAD of going out for a walk, which is what i would normally want to do... i tried to clear my desk so that i can start taking stuff home tomo (i had no idea how much shit there was on my desk/shelves... i found bits of paper that id kept from like 4years ago - Gah! GET IN THE BIN!!)

i got some bits sorted, not an amazing amount tho! Cos i then had to round up my form and walk them to the town hall with the rest of the school in the blazing heat with them all smartly dressed but desperate to take off their blazers/ties etc... to sit through the two hours of boredum on the floor. NICE. (i got to sit with my teacher buds tho, so i was ok :p)

Finally we got out at about 3:30 and i walked the TWO annoying pupils who hadn't got their "permission to leave" slips signed - back to school. I put out my cover work for tomo (im taking some pupils on a trip to the national gallery in london so wont be in school) and THEN finally, i walked home....

And what was the first thing i did when i got through the door? well the title is a giveaway. Yup, i had me a NICE LONG COOL drink of iced mint tea..... Yummmmmmmers!

i knew it was a good idea to brew some up yesterday...
my afternoons boredum is now todays treat!
:)

So im refreshed... but still feeling shattered. I think an easy eve and an early night is on the cards for me. Then im up and off to london in the morning on this trip! Busybeeeee.

Hmm, something tells me this last week is gonna be far from relaxed! Still, not long to go till i can start to rest and try to recover fully.... maybe it wont be so hard? if im as tired as i am now - then ill embrace the time to heal without forcing myself to be active etc.

i really hope so!!

Have a good eve and ill check back with y'all tomoz
xx
