jampacked

Hello lovelies!

I hope you had a fantabulous bank holiday weekend wherever you are (or just a regular weekend if your not in the uk!)

Can i confess that i didnt actually realise it was a bank holiday until i asked why so many people weren't at work on a monday and my friend was like "are you kidding me with this!?" Hmm. i guess i get a little wrapped up in teacherdom and i forget that most people work regular weeks without a half term break like us!! i knew all the KIDS would be out of school, but i forgot about the rest of the population :-p hehe.

Still, i made the most of the day and tripped to this local festival with my buddies for a day of sitting in a field, chilling and listening to music. NOT BAD!!!

festival fun: especially from the thumbs up man in the corner!

And to top it all off, it was way sunny! the forecast was for rain but we had blazing heat all day (luckily until i got in the door that evening and it bucketed it down! But by then i was safely in the door and away from the dark cold wet outdoors.... Mwhahahaha.

dont you just love it when that happens!?

Back to the festival tho, it was really nice to be outdoors and relaxing... usually if im outside its walking somewhere and not just sitting in the sun. It felt good to soak up some vitamin D :-) and as we were talking away, we got on the topic of healthyness. One of my friends is literally, the unhealthiest guy you know! he smokes, he drinks, he eats the dodgiest food (if you can class it food! he regularly has microwave burgers for breakfast... EWW!) and he takes no exercise... yet he is SUPER skinny and always has been. but is he healthy?! hells no! But it hasnt affected his shape, cos that is his genetic build....

SO, it got me to thinking about how our bodies are all individual. they are the way they are because thats how theyre meant to be... GENETICALLY! that is, unless you mess about with them and then they get all unhappy and skew-whiff :-(
I was looking around at all the people at the festival (and there were ALOT!) and the thing i noticed was that most of the people that stood out to me as attractive, were NOT superskinny! Its weird, i dont find the superskinny look attractive, i dont like how I look thats for sure! But even tho most of them were slim, they still had little bellies. Now this is my freakout area, cos i always want a flat toned stomach, but with my digestive issues and such, its often very hard to get a flat stomach cos im usually bloated with air... so even at my lowest weight i could still have a little popbelly, i just teamed it with stick legs and arms... But these girls HAD little bellies, and it wasnt scary... it looked cute and soft and proportioned! Sure if i asked them im sure they'd all say they wanted a flatter tum. but you know what, i think what they sacrificed in not having scary leanne rimes abs, they made up for with the smiles on their faces....

NEWSFLASH:
CONFIDENCE IS SEXIER THAN KILLER ABS PEOPLE!!!!

and also WAY nicer in my books! if i see a fully ripped person, im a little intimidated, if i see someone with a big smile... i feel like i wanna get in on some of that happy! So when i looked at myself, wearing a long sleeved top (cos i hate my arms) Still hiding and being self-concious, i thought... thats not cute! Im getting there... i was wearing a skirt (ive recently braved the legs out again, i was too paranoid before, but hey... they look equally scary in trousers so frankly, who cares!) im trying to find a better side of healthy, not one dictated by diet and excercise. but one that listens to my body aswell as doing a bit of what i want when i want... Its hard, but i just need to remind myself that you dont have to exercise/eat superclean to be happy, healthy and NORMAL!

After all....

my body is the way it is because thats how i was made!

Now i just have to stop being an ass and let it do what it does best... helping me to live.
Jeez, why did i ever try and take my body's understanding of what it needs into my own hands, its clearly WAAAAAY to scientific a job to undertake solo!

What did you get upto this weekend?
Have you ever body-checked other people?!?

Its funny how sometimes the thing thats the most attractive about people is one of the things that people fear the most... being NORMAL!!

Take it easy breezy peeps and ill be sure to keep you updated on how this crazy week off goes... Im trying to fit in as much as poss! So no doubt that means i can predict a more tired me by the end of the week than when im at work!
oh well....

  1. Can I just say that I LOVE your news flash?! Sooo so true!! :) I like how you said when you looked around you noticed peoples' smiles rather than crazy "Leanne Rhimes abs." I think it is a much more worthwhile endeavor to focus on our own personal happiness and confidence rather than our looks. :)
