...Dead Woman Walking...
approach with caution!
I am SO ridiculously tired right now :( Today was a killer... I have to get in touch with some parents about a consultation evening happening next week, which FYI parents, it is NOT a compulsory requirement! they've had their proper "parents evenings" already, this is just a chance for parents with specific queries and concerns... but do they listen to that? Noooo. they see it as a "must-do" thing, like if they dont show up they'll be considered a bad parent. which is SO not true!! In fact, its kindof a waste of time if they dont have any questions or concerns, cos i just gonna end up with a whole list of parents who sit there with nothing to say and im like "hi there... i saw you a month or two ago? yes... nothings changed." GAH!
So im gonna email a few of the ones on my list and see if they are happy with doing a progress report update by phone/email. Its not that i dont want to meet with them in person, if they DO have a concern... but us teachers are hard-pushed for time as it is! and this consultation evening is trying to squeeze in FOUR yeargroups in one session. Urmmm, management?? You do know there's on ONE of me, right?! Oh dear.
So basically - im glad its friday! But its not that simple, cos aswell as all the other stuff - i have been "given" a whole stack of english papers to mark before a moderating meeting on tuesday. Booo! We have to assess whether the levels are appropriate or two high/too low etc... So i have to check back through all the previous marks and figure out if they are where they shud be, which they NEVER are - cos alot of junior schools mark waaaay too high for their level and then when they get to senior school, we have to pick up the fallout when they get their TRUE grades, leading up to what will be their GCSE predictions... Noooooooo!
basically - not fun.
But wait a minute... dont run off!! Im entitled to a little grumble, surely?! Yes, its not the most interesting reading material! haha, But im not ALL doom and gloom!
Becaaause iiiiiits bank holiday weekend!!!
yayyyyyers!
Yup, that means THREE whole days off! And since im not a total killjoy (she says... :p) Despite being chained to my paperwork, you KNOW there has to be a little smidge of fun in there somewhere!
Tomo is gonna be a sleep, work, chore day methinks... also trying to catch up on emails, cos ive been rubbish :p Then SUNday is my FUNday! One of my friends is organising a day-to-night gig at this bar/music venue in town, so im trying to rally up some people to go and make a day of it. Hangout in the afternoon? catch some sun in the park? sounds perf. Then we can mosey to the bar and listen to some live music... SAWEEEEET!!!
sometimes simple things are the best fun
After that, ive already a scheduled in mumatron-day on monday! She's working as usual this weekend, so shes gonna try and get home on sunday night so we can make the most of my not working on the monday. YIPEE! She wants us to go to this open garden thing, which im sure will be beautiful if a bit snore-worthy! But ive said if ther weather is good (which it looks like it will be...) im happy to tag along if it makes her happy. At least i can get some sun-time, its sooo depressing sitting in a classroom teaching when the suns blazing outside, especially when we only get about a month of sun in the whole year!! Haha. So im doing the model-daughter-thing and letting her choose what we do. Mother always know best! and to be honest... i like spending time with her, i dont get to see her all that much - despite the fact that we technically LIVE together! So im trying to make the most before i abandon her for the sights of the big wide world.
And it'll be a nice day out, im sure :)
So, thats ME!
What are you lovely peeps upto this weekend?
I hope all you Brits out there are making the most of the bank holiday....
Whatever you do - have a good'un!!

Enjoy the bonus day off lovely xo
